Travel Policy
As an organization, it’s important to have a clear travel policy for your staff. A travel policy outlines the travel arrangements, procedures and guidelines to be followed by the staff before, when, and after going on a business/ work trip. A reliable travel policy needs to have a scope, purpose statement, reimbursement section, travel arrangements processes, and the authorized/non-authorized expenses. Travel policies are meant to ensure business trips are run smoothly, secured ahead of time meet the company requirements, and are very productive.
In a travel policy, the company can include other businesses, which the company transacts with for their travels, a list of preferred vendors, hotels, etc. A reliable travel policy makes it easier for staff to report and track every activity during their business travels. The main challenge with travel policies is that they can be difficult to understand if not fully explained to the staff and with poor enforcement they can be obsolete.
